Summer Playscheme
Summer Playscheme will run for four weeks from Monday, 12 July to Friday, 6 August with booking forms going out the week after half-term. Please try and book in good time, since it is often over subscribed. Mrs Sarah Price and her team will be ready to provide an exciting variety of activities.
Christmas Playscheme – 20/21/22 December 2010
Easter Playscheme – 11-15 April 2011

Exclusions through illness
Children who are suffering from vomiting and/or diarrhoea will be excluded from school for 48 hours.
Children who have chicken pox will be excluded until the spots have crusted over.
Parents of children suffering from other childhood ailments should consult Form Teachers/School Office for advice as to whether they should come to school.

Before & After School Clubs
Before School Club will continue to run from 7.30am in the School Dining Room (£4 with breakfast, £3 without). Last breakfast will be served at 8.10am. After School Club continues to run from 3.15pm until 5.00pm (£5 per hour, with the minimum charge for the first half-hour, or part thereof, being £2.50). Parents are requested to settle any outstanding balances on a weekly basis. Please note that any payments outstanding for more than 2 weeks will be subjected to a £5.00 administration charge without further notice and anyone staying after 5pm will be charged £10 per half-hour or part thereof, per child.
If your child knows in advance that they will be going to After School Club, they will be sent directly there and you will be charged from the end of their school day.

After School Club phone number is 020 8300 8728.
Please note you will be required to sign your child out. Please do not leave without ensuring you have done so.
The kitchen entrance should not be used to collect your child from After School Club. Access to the After School Club is through the children's Dining Room entrance from the Junior Playground. This is to ensure their safety. Also, please do not use the After School Club as a cut-through.
Please ensure you ring the School Office before 1pm if you wish to send your child to After School Club as it is not always possible to make sure the message is passed to the relevant teachers in time (if the children are at PE/Games for example). However, be assured that any child who is not collected, is automatically taken to After School Club.

Merton Court 'Tiny Tots & Toddlers' Club'
Mrs T Langton will be co-ordinating these afternoon sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays that run from 1.30pm until 2.45pm from Tuesday, 27 April until Thursday, 1 July. The cost is £5 per session including refreshments. If you have a pre-school child (or know anyone who has) and would like a social opportunity and a safe, structured first introduction to our school environment, please contact the School Office or Early Years directly (020 8309 5299).

Security
Please would all parents ensure that gates are closed behind them when using school entry points, especially at the start of school (8.45am). School gates will be closed at 8.45am and open again at 3.00pm. Anyone arriving between those times will be required to use the main entrance/front door to the school.

Parking
Extensive parking is available in our Rectory Lane car parks. Please park with consideration on Knoll Road without obstructing driveways. Take care when turning in the road and avoid using private drives and closes, which aggravates local residents. This has sadly already been the topic of correspondence for school to deal with this term.

Uniform and Appearance
All children should be wearing full summer uniform.
Red shoes (EY – J3) are available from Pares, Blackfen – Tel: 020 8303 7443. Size ranges are 3 – 12 ½ and 1 – 3.
Please note that all shoes must be closed back and toe. No open shoes are allowed for Health and Safety reasons. If you have any queries, please contact Mrs Macdonald.
Baseball caps, which may be worn to school when wearing tracksuits/PE kit, should also be in school to wear at breaktimes and lunchtimes during the sunny weather. These are available for purchase from the School Office at £5.
Please speak to Mrs Macdonald if you encounter any difficulties with uniform requirements and she will liaise directly with John Lewis.
Once again, parents and children are respectfully reminded that hair styles should be appropriate to school. The excessive use of gel on hair, colouring of hair and cut designs in hair are not permitted in school, and whilst the current fashion appears to be longer hair for boys, hair should not be over collar length. Any hairstyle that draws attention to itself should be avoided, otherwise children may risk internal exclusion or being sent home to remedy it. Please note girls should not wear earrings for games or PE.

Maintaining Good Communications (especially in bad weather)
We do hope you are experiencing the benefit of our excellent 'ParentMail' texts and emails. Please consult the school website (www.mertoncourtprep.co.uk) for all up-to-date information (particularly during bad weather or emergency closures). The Parents' section is full of lovely photographs and Year group information, so please do visit it. For the password to access this area, please email office@mertoncourtprep.co.uk .
The new e-mail contact with our parents is proving to be a huge success, providing a more efficient method of communication to you, whilst complementing our eco-friendly policies.
Useful phone numbers are: Reporting Absence/Sick Line (020 8269 6899), Early Years & Tiny Tots & Toddlers' Club (020 8309 5299) and Before/After School Club (020 8300 8728), Mrs A Macdonald (Pastoral, uniform, fees) (020 8269 6894) and Mrs J Raggett (Admissions) (020 8269 6892). We are always delighted to hear from OM's who wish to tell us what they're up to. Great to see Charlie Fennell (OM) in 'Hello' last month with his 'Girls Aloud' girlfriend Nicola Roberts!
